Ceanothus thyrsiflorus repens

Californian Lilac. Of all the Californian Lilacs this one is the hardiest and most suitable for the British garden. Bearing glossy deep green leaves on stiff low arching branches and covered in fluffy powder blue flowers in late summer, this is a very pretty evergreen shrub for the front of the border or a patio container. Vigorous, compact and mound-forming, it is easily trimmed back to required size and shape after flowering. Hardy but best in a sheltered sunny spot. Max 0.75m x 1-1.5m.
