Katsura Tree. Native to China and Japan, this very unusual but easy to grow, small deciduous tree is notable for its beautiful, dainty, heart-shaped foliage which opens in spring in soft shades of deep pink, red and plum, turning greener in summer and producing a spectacular array of colours in autumn, from vivid violet and cerise to plums, scarlets and golds. As well as being utterly breathtaking in appearance, the autumn foliage also has a subtle and unusual fragrance like toffee or candyfloss.
