Gage 'Reine Claude de Bavay'

A close relative of Old Greengage, introduced from Belgium in the 1843 and named after M. Claude Bavais, director of Vilvorde Horticultural Station. Described by Robert Hogg, a prominent Victorian pomologist as "a first rate dessert plum of exquisite flavour". Hardy, self-fertile and bearing small round green fruit, it is, like most gages, not a heavy cropper and will do best in a south facing position in full sun. Suitable for both dessert and culinary use. Max 2m.
