Maidenhair Tree. A unique and fascinating species of tree with no close living relatives, termed a living fossil and accepted to be the oldest tree in the world, having seen the dinosaurs come and go! Common throughout the world millions of years ago, its range shrank until it was restricted to a very small area of eastern China. It was introduced to the west in the 1700's by the early oriental plant collectors. A very unusual and slow growing deciduous with beautiful fan-shaped deep green leaves turning a stunning bright golden yellow in autumn. Highly disease resistant and pollution tolerant.
